CAMBRIDGE — The Comedy Studio is coming home. That’s how it feels to club owner Rick Jenkins after signing a lease for a new space in Harvard Square at the former Curious George store that will allow the Studio to open a new chapter in its 25-year history sometime in the fall of 2022.

Jenkins originally founded the club in an attic space above the Hong Kong Restaurant in 1996 and left in 2017 to open a new space in Somerville at Bow Market in 2018. When the pandemic closed down live entertainment in 2020, it cast doubt on the Studio’s future in Somerville.

A group of tapas restaurants known in part for their wine offerings will be opening a third Boston-area location, with this one moving into a space in Cambridge that has been home to an upscale bistro.

Family-owned Dominican restaurant Las Palmas Restaurant & Catering celebrated the opening of its third location two weeks ago, joining Blackbird Doughnuts and Sally’s Sandwiches in the Smith Campus Center’s remodeled arcade.

Its menu includes a variety of empanadas, customizable rice bowls, and tropical juices, as well as Dominican desserts like tres leches cake and caramel flan.

At first glance, the Harvard Square busking duo Vibe Check might induce disbelief. How could two people so young play such complex, funky, rock-fueled music? Is there trickery employed here, like prerecorded tracks?

The restaurant has been much anticipated both because of the prime real estate and also because of the chef: Mark Ladner, who was for years one of Mario Batali’s biggest assets in New York City

The project, at Trinity’s 50 Church Street property, will allow the building’s atrium and roof to generate up to 66 kilowatts of solar photovoltaic energy while maintaining open views to the sky from the atrium area. The project also ensures far more effective year-round temperature control in the popular space, which provides additional meeting and work space for the office tenants and provides a venue for several community events and functions.

Designed by architects Bruner/Cott & Associates, the renovation at 50 Church resolved several longstanding challenges with the building simultaneously:

Live performances, arts and crafts, and street food spilled into Harvard Square Sunday as the Harvard Square Business Association hosted its 42nd Annual Oktoberfest.

After organizing a four-day virtual event last year, the HSBA celebrated the yearly tradition in person this year, with the goal of spotlighting Square businesses still recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic.

While the time-honored HONK! Parade – which typically accompanies Oktoberfest – did not take place this year due to health and safety concerns, Oktoberfest still drew a large crowd.

Harvard Square will soon welcome Wusong Road, a newly established Chinese American restaurant and tiki bar headed by chef Jason Doo and Thomas Brush, the owner of Felipe’s Taqueria.

Wusong Road is aiming for a “late fall” opening on 112 Mt. Auburn St., the historic building where French restaurant Les Sablons used to be, Doo said in an interview. The new restaurant is located near Flour Bakery and the Harvard Square Hotel.
