Gary Negbaur and the Crimson Cats
June 5 @ 9:30 pm
| $24.28 – $35.92
Pianist/vocalist/composer Gary Negbaur plays jazz, blues and American roots music, combining innovative arrangements of standards with soulful originals. He has grooved at the French Quarter Fest in New Orleans, knocked them out at Birdland in NYC, raised the roof at South by Southwest in Austin and enjoyed standing ovations at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival.
A “witty songwriter” (Austin Chronicle) with a “jazzy croon” (St. Louis Post Dispatch) who can “control the black and whites like Captain Kirk manning the Enterprise” (The Tennessean), his eclectic recordings include original rock music, solo jazz standards, children’s music, New Orleans classics and a jazz piano trio recording. His next album (Binding Isaac & the Prodigal Son) features two suites of original songs based on biblical parables and will be released in late 2025.
In addition to performing, Negbaur composes for theater, film and TV. He wrote music and lyrics for the musical Wine Lovers and contributed to the score of the feature film An American Summer. His song, Red Pontiac, was featured on NPR’s beloved “Car Talk.”
Gary studied at Harvard University and the Berklee College of Music, and at this Boston show, he looks forward to playing with some musical pals he’s known since his undergrad days.
