Eguie Castrillo Eguie Castrillo is a Grammy Award winner (Arturo Sandovals Latin Jazz 1998 record of the year Hot House) and an engaging showman who performs year-round with his Salsa band in concerts, festivals, corporate parties, and clubs all around the United States. A world-renown musician, Eguie has performed and recorded with prominent world music figures such as: – Tito Puente – Jennifer Lopez – Donna Summer – Steve Winwood – Paquito D’ Rivera – Michael Camilo – California Transit Authority (CTA) – Blood Sweat & Tears – Tom Jones – Arturo Sandoval – Ralph Peterson Jr. – Celia Cruz – United Nations Orchestra – Michael Brecker – Boston Pops – Susan Tedeschi – The Gravel Project – George Duke With infectious rhythm and electrifying performances, Eguie has sizzled many stages around the world, including in Europe, Asia, USA , South America and the Caribbean/Puerto Rico. On January 13, 2013, Eguie was featured (and sold out) at the prestigious Carnegie Hall in New York City, along with some of the greatest artists in Latin Music, as part of Carnegie Hall’s Family Concert Series. On this occasion, he presented the show called “Mambo Mania”, where Eguie honored the music of the Mambo Kings (Tito Puente, Tito Rodriguez and Machito), showcasing the history of Mambo music with visuals and professional dancers that electrified the stage with their moves. The great Salsa singer Gilberto Santa Rosa was featured for this occasion. Eguie has also participated in various soundtracks for films such as Random Hearts and The Perez Family, alongside Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandoval. ••Eguie has two productions to his name, Palladium Tradition (2006), which has been described by music critics as “MOST HAVE” in any big band’s music collection, and his new project titled Muévete y Báilalo, which little by little is positioning itself among the favorites of salseros around the world. A prominent percussion professor at Berklee College of Music, Boston, MA since 1999, Eguie also leads workshops and clinics on Latin and Afro-Caribbean percussion at colleges and universities across the USA, Europe, Latin America and Asia. Recognized on the world stage, Eguie is endorsed by some of the most important musical instruments companies: Zildjian, Remo, Vic Firth and in-ears monitors Fat Frequency.
