MLK Tribute in Harvard Square

Location: Fire + Ice
Date: Sunday January 16th 2011
Time: 4PM

For the third year, a quartet of students from the Community Charter School of Cambridge will pay homage to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., by reciting his “I have a Dream” speech this Sunday, January 16, as part of the Harvard Square Business Association’s Winter Carnival series.

The students will present their rendition at 4 p.m. at Fire + Ice, 50 Church Street, Harvard Square. John Schall, the owner of Fire + Ice is hosting the event and is providing refreshments for attendees.

CCSC students Farhan Altaf (12th grade), Annisa Lespinasse (11th grade), Khorally Pierce (10th grade), and Tristan Pepin (9th grade) will recite the speech.

This is a great way for our students to learn about and honor the aspirations and work of Dr. King,” said Caleb Hurst-Hiller, an associate principal at Community Charter School of Cambridge. “It is a good learning experience for these kids and also just a great life experience for them. In some small way, I’m sure it will help them after they graduate from CCSC and go on to college.”

The Community Charter School of Cambridge is a public, college preparatory, charter school located at 245 Bent Street in Cambridge. Every student from the CCSC Class of 2009 and the Class of 2010 has gained admission to college. 85% go on to four-year schools.
