Important Reminders & Information for Sunday’s 36th Annual Oktoberfest

 

CAMBRIDGE, Mass., October 9, 2014 – The Harvard Square Business Association is pleased to announce that the 36th Annual Oktoberfest and legendary HONK! Parade is less than a week away and will be held this Sunday, October 12th, 2014 from 12-6 p.m. Annually attended by over 200,000 people, Harvard Square’s Oktoberfest features food from all over the world, arts, crafts, vintage goods, sidewalk sales and one-of-a-kind gifts.

This annual celebration of fall features six stages of live music, including a Passim stage, a rock stage, and on the main stage, an all-HONK! Review.

During the parade there will be traffic congestion in the vicinity of the route which will be along Massachusetts Avenue from Beech Street to Harvard Square.  Motorists should seek alternate routes.

Outlined below is a detailed schedule for the main stage, Church Street stage and Passim. The HONK! Parade will arrive in the Square at approximately 1pm.

Photography

To capture the pageantry of this year’s Oktoberfest activities, the Harvard Square Business Association will utilize aerial photography for the first time in the festival’s 36 years. The Association has contracted with a vendor who will fly drones for this purpose.  The drones will fly only within the confines of the heart of Harvard Square and will respect the restrictions over Harvard University property.
