Important Information regarding Redline Closure

We received the flyer and statement below from Brooke McKenna, City of Cambridge Commissioner, Traffic Parking & Transportation.

Brooke states, “The T will be replacing redline service with shuttle buses from February 5th to February 14th. The closure/shuttling will be from Alewife to Harvard at all times, and from Alewife to Park Street starting at 8:45 each evening.

As a result, we are anticipating significant congestion on the roadways, longer commute times, and other disruptions. In Harvard Square, the bus stops at Holyoke Gate will be extended and used for all northbound shuttle users, while a new temporary bus stop will be created on Brattle Street near Palmer to accommodate southbound travelers.

We are encouraging employers to offer as much flexibility as possible. Offering additional work from home opportunities, shifting commute hours, and other temporary flexibility has the potential to significantly ease the congestion and keep the City moving.”

The City has created webpage for closure information: https://www.cambridgema.gov/streetsandtransportation/redlineclosures2024
