HUECU HOSTS SUCCESSFUL 11TH ANNUAL WINTERSESSION EVENT

Harvard University students had the opportunity to hear from industry experts about
investing, retirement, credit, and money management as a student.

Cambridge, MA—January 26, 2022 —The Harvard University Employees Credit Union (HUECU)
hosted its 11th annual Wintersession this January with four sessions for Harvard students. The sessions
spanned two days. On the first day, Jake Northrup from Experience Your Wealth and Jane Mepham from
Elgon Financial Advisors explained the ease of starting to save for retirement. “Both speakers provided
clear and concise explanations of retirement saving options that students are likely to encounter as they
enter the workforce ”, said Tom Montilli, Executive Vice President, Chief Experience Officer (CXO) of
HUECU.

The second session of Wintersession welcomed back Shahar Ziv, HUECU Board Member and CoFounder of our Personal Finance Wintersession course. He led the attendees through a step-by-step on
how to start investing. “Just as he did in previous years, Shahar did a wonderful job responding to
students’ needs and presenting investing in a way that students of varying experience can easily digest,”
said Montilli.

Day two also included Luke Pelger from GreenPath Financial Wellness, who taught everyone about
Building and maintaining Credit. Attendees shared how the imagery is helpful to understand how credit
scores work. The final last session: Managing Your Money as a Student was led by a panel comprised of
Meadow Hall, Eddie Richardson, Debi Meche, and Evelyn Contreras. This panel touched on daily
financial issues students face and how to tackle them appropriately. Each panelist provided their
perspectives on finances and collectively communicated understandable and practical solutions to student

finances. Montilli adds, “HUECU is thrilled to have participated in our 11th consecutive Wintersession.
Educating students about personal finance is incredibly important, and the Credit Union is committed to
supporting these efforts in any way we can.”
