Good Morning HSBA Members and Friends,
On Sunday, December 21st, Cambridge police were called to Cardullo’s after staff reported that an impaired man was being belligerent and refusing to leave the store. Harvard Square Patrol Officer Christine Gilbertson answered the call after which a struggle ensued.
She succeeded in ushering the man out of the store. However, once outside, he began to violently overpower Officer Gilbertson. Several people passed by without coming to the officer’s aid. Thankfully, Jonathan (JB) Belton, manager of Topdrawer, who was in Cardullo’s, sprang into action. He managed to subdue the offender until police backup arrived.
We are pleased to report that Officer Gilbertson is recuperating. She is a valued member of the Harvard Square patrol team and we thank her for her service and dedication to duty.
On behalf of the Harvard Square Business Association, we applaud JB for his selfless act of protecting someone in need. Sometimes we all need assistance, even police officers.
Thank you, JB. We are grateful and truly appreciate you.
Most sincerely,
Denise
