Longy Horszowski Trio: New Path, New Light featuring Sean Wang, violin
October 29th 7:30pm

An obstacle can’t be the end to artistry — sometimes it’s exactly the catalyst that a composer needs for inspiration. This program looks at two artists who had to adapt their work to difficult circumstances. Clarke struggled as a female composer and was forced to use a pen name to gain recognition before she could make space for herself on her own merits. Korngold’s Suite for Two Violins, Cello and Piano Left Hand was written for a pianist who lost his right arm during the war. This courageous piece refuses limitations — pushing the boundaries of what’s possible on the instrument and prompting us to reimagine our capabilities and artistry. Get tickets here.

Her music has earned accolades from NPR, BBC, Rolling Stone and MOJO as well as from heads of state (Former British Prime Minister David Cameron ) and Hollywood actors (Tom Hanks).   Accompanying her all over the world for the last 15 years has been Jerry “Cold-Blooded” Miller. A dazzling theatrical event created by Obie Award-winning artist Whitney White and performed by White and an ensemble with a live band, Macbeth In Stride examines what it means to be an ambitious Black woman through the lens of one of Shakespeare’s most iconic characters. The first of White’s five-part series commissioned by A.R.T. excavating the women from Shakespeare’s canon, the production uses pop, rock, gospel, and R&B to trace the fatalistic arc of Lady Macbeth while lifting up contemporary Black female power, femininity, and desire. Directors Tyler Dobrowsky and Taibi Magar (We Live in Cairo) co-stage this groundbreaking world premiere with choreography by Raja Feather Kelly.

Cambridge Historical Tours
Ghost Tour

Gruesome murders, bloody battles, untimely death, and plenty of irreverent humor will entertain (and perhaps freak you out) on this 90-minute stroll through Harvard Square. Excellent story-telling by expert guides dressed in period costume will make you feel like you’re back around the campfire. Tales of mediums, mourning lovers, and deceased Harvard students haunt the town as we creep through the Square to finish in the dark of the Burial Ground.   Don’t fret. You won’t wet your knickers. This tour is appropriate for all willing ages, though some violent imagery is certainly a part of the package, so parental discretion is advised. We focus on telling great stories, cracking cheap jokes, and making sure everyone is having fun.
