Indonesia food is full of diverse cultures and traditions. The food is different in each region and incorporates a lot of spices, fresh herbs, and fresh ingredients. In this online interactive class, we’ll make Balinese and Javanese food from scratch including the spice herb paste. We’ll make sambal goreng tempeh (sweet and spicy tempeh in tomato sauce), Jukut Jepang Bali (Balinese chayote soup), Sayur Lodeh (vegetable curry), and Longtong (rice cake). We’ll finish the class with Bubur Sumsum, creamy rice pudding with palm sugar syrup. While we cook, we’ll talk about the differences between Balinese and Javanese cooking styles.
