About

In this therapeutic art workshop, participants will be guided in creating a personal, portable shrine to honor and remember a lost loved one. We’ll use small boxes or tins to memorialize and honor things we hold dear to us (e.g. a loved one, a pet, our ancestors, a special community member, or a place).

The workshop will provide participants with an arts-based experience that focuses on creating an open and supportive space for us to explore grief and loss free of shame, to honor who/what we’ve lost, and to experience a sense of belonging, validation, and community support.

All necessary art materials will be provided. However, participants are encouraged to bring meaningful objects to honor their loved one(s), such as: photographs, jewelry, small scraps of clothing, fabric, ribbon, natural objects, or any preferred art materials. No artistic experience necessary. All skill levels are welcome.

Dr. Lauren Leone (she/her) is an artist, board-certified therapist, and licensed mental health counselor. Lauren works with art therapy participants in clinical and community-based settings in Massachusetts.

The workshop will take place in the Story Chapel.
