To celebrate National Hip-Hop History Month in November and the 50th anniversary of this world-changing cultural and artistic movement, we are offering the Hip-Hop Experience Workshop, facilitated by artist and singer Jazzmyn RED.

This session will highlight elements of hip-hop and take a closer look at the art of being an MC. Jazzmyn will discuss MC writing techniques, instrumental visualization, and how to find your flow. Participants will write their own 16 bars (16 counts of 4) to perform for the group.

Jazzmyn RED is a passionate artist from Massachusetts who blends her lyricism, soulful singing, and songwriting to create a unique and powerful sound. Jazzmyn has an affinity for bold storytelling about history, social justice and social issues, relationships, and society as a whole. In addition to leading these workshops and performing, she currently serves as an Ambassador of Hip Hop and Cultural Exchange to the U.S. State Department’s Next Level Program.

Led by:
Jazzmyn RED, MC, singer, poet, educator, and hip-hop activist

Free admission, but seating is limited and registration is required. Registration can be arranged by clicking on the event on this form, beginning Sunday, October 15, after 10am.

The workshop will take place in Menschel Hall, Lower Level. Doors will open for seating at 12:30pm.
