As we embrace social distancing, and look for creative ways to share art and inspiration, CAA is launching a series of Virtual Studio visits. We will host these visits via ZOOM, allowing up to 100 guests to ‘visit’ local artist’s studios, ask questions about the artists work and progress, and share in community, from a distance. For our this Virtual Studio Visit, we are pleased to visit the studio of Molly McLaughlin!
Virtual Studio Visits are free, and open to all!
All attendees must register for this event in order to receive the link and login information for the ZOOM event. Please use the Virtual Meeting URL to register for this program.

As an artist living on the New Hampshire seacoast, I am endlessly inspired to explore the beauty of the geometric patterns and designs that are inherent in all aspects of the natural world. To provide a richly satisfying visual experience, I incorporate the interplay of color and shapes that I find in the elements of seacoast life.
In my work, I apply a variety of dye techniques to very fine, highly irridescent silk that I then weave in several layers. My approach creates a vibrant dialog between the individual threads of different colors, as well as between the layers of cloth that define each piece. This allows for a visual experience of depth and movement in my woven designs as they evolve in color and form.
