About

Since we are unable to welcome you into the museums at this time, we are bringing our experts to you in the online series Art Study Center Seminars at Home.

Harvard’s collection of unforgettable figure studies by Pontormo illustrates the artist’s stunning capacity to convey intellectual rigor, physical movement, and psychological intensity. In this session, Dennis Geronimus, professor of art history at New York University, discusses Pontormo’s draftsmanship with curator Joachim Homann.

Dennis Geronimus specializes in painting and drawings of the Italian Renaissance, with a focus on Tuscany. His current book project is tentatively titled Jacopo da Pontormo: Altered Grace, Human and Divine.

Led by:
Dennis Geronimus, Associate Professor and Chair, Department of Art History, New York University

Joachim Homann, Maida and George Abrams Curator of Drawings, Division of European and American Art, Harvard Art Museums
