About

This event requires registration; see further details below.

Join us for an Art Study Center Seminar held in conjunction with our special exhibition American Watercolors, 1880–1990: Into the Light, featuring artist Peter Soriano in conversation with curator Joachim Homann. The seminar will begin in the galleries to view Soriano’s watercolors and continue with a discussion of additional works from the collections that are of special interest to Soriano.

On view from May 20 to August 13, 2023, the exhibition presents more than a hundred compelling and rarely seen watercolors by both well-known and historically underrepresented American artists. All works are drawn from the Harvard Art Museums’ deep and diverse holdings. Expanding the canon and including many new acquisitions on view for the first time, American Watercolors seeks to inspire conversations and enrich today’s practitioners.

Free admission, but registration is required. You can register by clicking on the event on this form, beginning Saturday, July 15, after 10am.

Please arrive 15 minutes before the start of the program to allow sufficient time to sign in at the Art Study Center reception desk (Level 4), and be prepared to present a photo ID. All coats and bags must be placed in a locker prior to entering the study room.

Please visit the museum visit page to learn about our general policies for visiting the museums.
