Cambridge, MA—October 26 2021—Debjani Ray, Harvard University Employees Credit Union
(HUECU) branch manager was awarded Professional of the Year by the Cooperative Credit Union
Association (CCUA). Professional of the Year is awarded to credit union professionals who demonstrate,
in their workplace, devotion to cooperative values through their outstanding work ethic. Their attitudes,
initiative, and service quality go beyond normal expectations, allowing credit unions to thrive and better
serve their communities with excellence.

Debjani is the manager at HUECU’s Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) branch. MGH is the largest
hospital-based research program in the United States, providing high-quality patient care and ranking as
one of the best hospitals in the US year after year. Through 2020 and 2021, MGH experienced a high
volume of patients due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Under Debjani’s leadership, HUECU was open every
day of pandemic, providing services to frontline workers through these challenging times. Debjani’s
members described her as “patient” and “extremely helpful” and colleagues describe her as someone who
“makes the office a wonderful place to be even on non-stop days”.

In a congratulatory video, President and CEO of HUECU Craig Leonard had the following to say about
Debjani’s exceptional service: “Managing our branch within the Massachusetts General Hospital during
the pandemic had to be one of the hardest jobs imaginable. For those tired and exhausted nurses and
doctors who visit our branch after their long shifts, she’s been that bright star to lift their spirits, and she’s
elevated her coworkers to do the same.”

HUECU congratulates Debjani Ray out of gratitude for her remarkable professional and human qualities.
Despite an emotionally demanding year, she made her team and members feel the ease of being welcome.
