Zambrero Brings Fight Against World Hunger Stateside with New Harvard Square Location

One of Australia’s fastest growing franchises, Zambrero, has arrived in the United States. The Mexican fast casual restaurant, known for its fresh and healthy food and fight to end world hunger, will open for business in Harvard Square on March 20th. To celebrate their opening, Zambrero, located at 71 Mount Auburn Street, will give away free burritos to the first 1,000 customers starting at 11am until supplies last.
Zambrero is Mexican with a mission and guests who visit a restaurant can expect a good deed with every good feed. Through its Plate 4 Plate initiative, Zambrero donates a meal to someone in need for every burrito or bowl purchased. With partner Rise Against Hunger, an international hunger relief agency founded in the U.S., Zambrero has provided more than 20 million nutritious meals to disadvantaged communities across Africa, Asia and the Americas, with a goal of donating one billion meals through Plate 4 Plate by 2025.
“We are thrilled to bring Zambrero to the United States, with a first stop in New England,” says founder Dr. Sam Prince. “Last year the number of people affected by hunger increased by 38 million. More than ever we need to take action, working alongside aid organizations such as Rise Against Hunger. At Zambrero, we wholeheartedly believe we can end world hunger in our lifetime, and expanding into larger markets, like the United States, increases our chances of making this a reality.”
Zambrero’s menu is healthy, modern and fresh and is highly customizable with gluten and dairy free, vegetarian and vegan-friendly options. In addition to the classic range of burritos, quesadillas, tacos and nachos, Zambrero offers both the IQ range and Powerbowl offering, affectionately referred to as “food for your brain,” that are jam packed with nutrients like plant protein superfoods and the seeds from ancient grains.
Chicken, pork and beef are sourced from quality U.S. producers, and are slow-cooked for up to 18 hours. Guacamole and salsas are handmade in each restaurant and Zambrero also prides itself on a range of secret sauces found only in its restaurants.
