Abodeon

About

history

Abodeon (a-BO-dee-on, a hybrid of “abode” and “beyond”) opened its doors in 1998. The brainchild of husband and wife team, Dale and Terri Anderson, the Cambridge store unites 20th and 21st Century designs in a single setting. At Abodeon, the classics of modernism mingle with the latest innovations by today’s designers as well as handcrafted items from both near and far.

philosophy

We search for things that are interesting and a joy to possess. New items are chosen for their design, function and quality. Vintage examples are meticulously cleaned and professionally restored when required. We believe that good design should be accessible, and strive to offer a wide range of products for all ages and pocketbooks. With a background in design and the arts, we love what we do and are knowledgeable about the things we sell. We invite you to discover Abodeon: a relaxed, hands-on environment where LPs play in the background and everyone is welcome to explore.

Awarded Best Gift Store 2009 and Best Wedding Gift Store 2010 by Boston Magazine. Celebrating modern design through the decades, Abodeon unites both vintage and new furnishings and accessories in one setting. Founded in 1998, the 2,000 sq. ft. store offers a friendly, hands-on environment for exploring everything from mid century Scandinavian to the lastest offerings by international designers. Abodeon is open seven days a week, and conveniently located on upper Mass Ave between Harvard and Porter Square.
