The Harvard Square Business Association (HSBA) was founded in 1910; its mission is “to promote commerce in Harvard Square”…over the last decade or so, we added the tagline “while being good stewards of the public space”.
For many years, the HSBA organized two signature events, MayFair and Oktoberfest; we now organize between 70 and 80 events throughout the year. They are all free, family-friendly and open to the public.

Homeless Empowerment Project – Treasurer (Volunteer)
The Homeless Empowerment Project (HEP) is a not-for-profit corporation with an annual budget of $150,000 and five paid staff positions (all part-time). Every other week for the past 25 years, HEP has published Spare Change News, a street newspaper addressing issues of homelessness, poverty, and social justice in the Greater Boston area. HEP’s mission is to give the homeless a voice while providing them with opportunities to earn a supplemental income and gain valuable skills to improve their lives.

HSBA fledgling member, the Charles Square Winter Farmers Market has initiated a GoFundMe Campaign.
As the winter market comes to the end of their second season, their future remains uncertain. To date, they are unable to cover their overhead maintenance, transportation and storage costs related to the winter sheds. It is for this reason, they are reaching out to the community to ask for financial help.
