Composed Theatre NOW at LONGY SCHOOL OF MUSIC OF BARD COLLEGE

Saturday, March 30, 2019 1:00pm 7:00pm

Amy Beth Kirsten presents an afternoon lecture on 'composed theatre', a newly minted term to describe 20th and 21st century works that apply musical thinking to theatrical elements such as movement, lighting, voice, text; and that use the concept of performance and body in unusual ways. Works by George Aperghis, Heiner Goebbels, Michel van der Aa, Karmina Šilec, and others will be explored using scores, and archival video. An evening concert of demonstrative works follows, as well as a post-concert discussion with the artists.
