Bruins Players Honored by The Harvard Lampoon
On Sunday, October 16th, The Harvard Lampoon presented players from the Bruins with the “Best Sports Team Ever” award during an outdoor public ceremony produced by The Harvard Square Business Association, The Harvard Lampoon and the City of Cambridge. Milan Lucic, Brad Marchand, Tyler Seguin, Shawn Thorton, Johnny Boychuk, Andrew Ference and their families were all on hand to accept the award in front of a throng of adoring fans.
The Bruins players departed from the famous Lampoon Castle in Super Duck Tour Trolleys. Led by the Harvard University Band, the trolleys paraded through Harvard Square escorted by Cambridge Police and Cambridge Fire personnel. Upon their arrival on Brattle Street, they were greeted by Mayor David Maher, who proclaimed the team, “The Cambridge Bruins”, much to the delight of the audience.
The Lampoon, known for their farcical antics, engaged in an impromptu game of dodge ball with the Stanley Cup Champions. This was followed by hysterical speeches by both members of the Lampoon and all of the Bruins in attendance.
The festivities kicked off earlier in the day with a rousing performance by Oldjack, who have just been nominated by the Boston Music Awards as Best Live Artist of the Year. This was followed by a set from acclaimed recording artist, Susan Cattaneo, who flew in for the event fresh from a concert at the Americana Music Festival in Nashville, Tennessee. Closing the musical portion of the event, the Self Proclaimed Rockstars energized the crowd with forty five minutes of raucous rock and roll.
The producers of the event thank the following eateries who supplied delicious fare for event attendees: Boloco, Bertucci’s, Casablanca, Redbones BBQ, Russell House Tavern, Sweet Cupcakes, and Zinneken’s Waffles.
