Inspired Burritos for Brenna! Boloco does it again!
Inspired Burritos for Brenna! On Friday, May 13, 2011 Harvard Square’s very own Boloco, located at 71 Mount Auburn Street will be serving their hot, delicious and inspired mini-burritos for $ 2.00 (or more, if you wish to donate) with all proceeds going to Brenna Bean.
Brenna’s story was reported on May 4, 2011 in Brian McGrory's column in the Boston Globe.
McGrory writes, “It is wrenching to think what must have been rushing through Harlan Bean’s mind that night in September that he lofted an e-mail into the ether, a soft cry for help that he had no idea would find human eyes.
His smart and beautiful daughter, Brenna, a track star at her high school in western Massachusetts, was at the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital after a horrible car crash left her paralyzed from the waist down. The moment was heartbreaking. The future was overwhelming. So he typed a message of quiet desperation to Fire + Ice, Brenna’s favorite restaurant from her occasional trips to Boston. He described her plight, asked if they did takeout, and added, “I don’t know Boston very well.’’
When the Harvard Square Business Association members learned of Brenna’s plight and her connection to John Schall at Fire + ice, many reached out to John to offer assistance. He is organizing a fundraiser at Fire + ice on June 14th.
Boloco Manager, Sal Airo Farulla was anxious to help and is always among the first businesses to offer assistance. Denise Jillson, Executive Director of the Harvard Square Business Association said of Boloco, “Their generosity is legendary; they always donate for Walk/Ride Fridays, Earth Day celebrations, and bike rides. Their enthusiastic community-spirit is as inspirational as their burritos!”
Please drop by Boloco at 71 Mt. Auburn Street in Harvard Square from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. on Friday the 13th to eat a great burrito and help a great cause!
