José Mateo Ballet Theatre opens its 25th Anniversary Season with two distinct programs of new ballet by New England’s most innovative dance-maker, Jose Mateo with cabaret-style seating, cocktails during the show and a close-up view of the dancers.
REALM OF SUSPENSE (Oct. 29-Nov. 14) showcases Mateo’s mysterious side with
the spellbinding Covens, which premiered in 2006 to James MacMillan’s Symphony #3.
This ballet thriller is a haunting tale about love and deception amidst the hysteria
of a witch-hunt. The concert also features Streams (2009), set to Terry Riley’s
The Cusp of Magic for String Quartet and Pipa. The ballet explores the dynamic tensions between partners amid uncertainty and distrust. The Fall Season concludes with a Mateo world premiere. October 29-November 14, Friday – October 29, 8:00 pm, Saturday – October 30, 8:00 pm, Sunday – October 31, 4:00 pm.
