Parenting Journey at Cambridge Family & Children Services
What is the Parenting Journey?
> A free 12 week, 2 hour curriculum, with dinner, childcare and transportation assistance!
> Offers an opportunity for parents to develop themselves as nurtured and nurturing people, capable of making responsible and informed choices in rearing their children.
> Focuses on promoting attitudes which enhance good parenting: respect, helping each other, listening with empathy and being curious.
> Has an emphasis on the parent as a person rather than on the child or the child in a disciplinary relationship with the parent.
Graduates of the Parenting Journey will be able to:
> Be more hopeful and optimistic about their future
> Have more insight about the connections between their parents behaviors and their own
> Be more confident about achieving their own personal goals
> Demonstrate an increase in their capacity for empathy and forgiveness
> Increase their understanding about what it means to be a good parent
> Have an improved capacity to find and utilize community services and support
