Good Stewards of the Outdoor Space

On Friday, May 19th, the Harvard Square Hospitality Group, a committee made up of Harvard Square Business Association members, held their bi-annual Clean Up Day. Assisted by the industrious staff from the City of Cambridge’s Department of Public Works, volunteers spent hours scouring the Square, just in time for Harvard Commencement this Thursday. Original plans to hold the event on Earth Day were thwarted by inclement weather.

The Hospitality Group organized both a morning and afternoon session that included such tasks as power washing trash barrels, removing stickers from lampposts, picking cigarette butts out from the brick crevices, cleaning the outside tables and chairs, watering the flowers and sweeping the plazas and sidewalks.

Special thanks to Cambridge Savings Bank who contracted Atlantic Power Wash to clean and brighten the area around The Pit and Out of Town News Kiosk before dawn.
