Good News from Harvard Square! Algiers Coffee House has re-opened!
A couple of weeks ago Algiers abruptly closed its doors after being in Harvard Square for 45 years.
We were saddened to lose such a venerable and iconic coffee house, due to illness of the owner, our beloved friend, Emil Durzi.
Just this weekend, Sami Herbawi reopened Algiers with an expanded menu that also includes all of the same delicious coffees, teas and food items that Algiers was famous for. Sami Herbawi is also well-known in Cambridge as he is the long-time owner of Andala Coffee House on Franklin Street in Central Square. Leo Diodato is the General Manager of Algiers. The HSBA welcomes Sami and Leo to the Square and looks forward to partnering with them for many years to come.
Please note they do not have a phone yet…it will be a couple more days before the phone is installed. Please drop by and say hello…have a cup of coffee and a nice meal.
Let’s keep Emil’s tradition going! Visit their page here : http://www.harvardsquare.com/algiers
