James & Devon Gray Booksellers was originally organized in April of 1992. Since that time, our purpose has not varied: we buy and sell original printed books and manuscripts from before the year 1700. All of these materials are genuine period works, each hundreds of years old. We supply rare book librarians and private collectors with carefully researched and described early books, thoughtfully chosen with the collecting parameters of the client in mind. We also offer appraisal and restoration services for early books, and are always willing to view individual volumes or whole collections. We can assess a book’s physical condition, recommending conservation or restoration as appropriate, we can appraise a book’s current market value for insurance and tax purposes, or we can purchase early books from private collections.
