Originally opened in October of 1996, Grafton Street Pub & Grill has been a beloved institution of Harvard Square for nearly a decade. Located at 1230 Massachusetts Avenue—the Gateway of Harvard Square—this neighborhood hotspot is named after the spirited cobblestone-lined shopping district in Dublin’s famed Temple Bar area. Grafton Street deftly combines a traditional Irish pub’s warmth and coziness with a contemporary and comfortable environment.
Formerly located at 1280 Massachusetts Avenue, Grafton Street relocated in June of 2002. The relocation afforded owners Patrick Lee, Peter Lee, Gerry Sheerin and Sean Kennedy a much larger floor plan with enhanced views of the Square, and only a block away from the original site.
Executive chef Eric Gregory serves up contemporary American cuisine for lunch and dinner seven days a week, including a prized Sunday brunch. The bustling bar boasts an extensive selection of craft beer, wine, and liquor and features several signature cocktails conceptualized by mixologist Diana Morell!
The 5,000 square foot space revels in tones of cream, beige and brown, complemented by black trim, yielding what is a well-designed but inherently relaxed space. Well-placed drapes and unique table arrangements enable diners to have a relatively private experience in the midst of the lively restaurant. Perhaps the most notable source of Grafton Street’s pulse are the French doors spanning the front of the restaurant, allowing the vibrancy of Harvard Square to emanate throughout the restaurant.
