Elizabeth Rudy, Theodore Rousseau Assistant Curator of European Paintings, Division of European and American Art, Harvard Art Museums
By looking at examples of Christian imagery in sculpture, paintings, and prints across four centuries from the Harvard Art Museums’ permanent collection, this talk will investigate the ways in which artists engaged with Christian subjects. It will also consider how these representations of biblical subjects differ according to their intended use for either private or public devotion.
Free with the price of admission. Admission is free to MA residents with valid ID on Saturdays before noon.
Gallery talks are informal and include discussion. Limited to 25 participants; please arrive early.
