Harvard Real Estate Services presents: “lexical dreaming” Mixed media by Georgia Bellas
Holyoke Center Exhibition Space
Details:
Exhibition: Nov. 20, 2009-Jan. 6, 2010
Opening reception: Friday, Dec. 4, 5:00-7:00 p.m.
I start in familiar spaces and arrive in unfamiliar places. In my work, I seek to convey a sense of mystery, an intimation of the unknown, in order to transport viewers into another world. I attempt to translate and transform, to make the familiar unfamiliar, and then familiar again, to break the known apart and refashion the pieces into a new story.
I have been working on the intersection of the digital and analog worlds. I am interested in how technology and digital communications shape and affect art making, and how they can be used as tools alongside traditional hands-on processes. My work is a hybrid approach to bridging these seemingly disparate worlds.
Georgia Bellas’ artistic journey is about translating the interior spaces of her imagination into physical images. She
works in a variety of forms, including photographs, drawing, book art, and mixed media.
