A celebration of Boston’s Irish Heritage with Celtic music and storytelling
Sunday April 5, 1:15-4:30

1:15-2:00pm - Sally Joyce Kiebdaj and Max Newman play traditional Irish music on fiddle, guitar, whistle, flute and banjo.
2:30-3:15pm - Kate Chadbourne performs, weaving together Irish traditional tales and songs with music played on Celtic harp and Irish flute.
3:45-4:30pm - Dan Gurney and Andy Collins perform Irish reels, jigs, and hornpipes on accordion and guitar.

This is open to the public, and free with admission.  Visitors are invited to enjoy the galleries between performances.  These fun and lively performances will make you want to dance and celebrate Boston’s Irish heritage, and are an excellent enhancement to a spring afternoon! Everyone is welcome; performances are geared toward teens and adults.

Harvard Art Museum is happy to announce this performance, which is the next in its new series of musical performances, taking place on the first Sunday of each month.  The series features international performers, presenting traditional as well as new music.  Each Sunday performance will feature a slightly different format, and will be as varied as Harvard Art Museum’s collections.

The March performance, Japanese Spirit in Nature: Save our Earth; Stop the Global Warming, featured Japanese music with a “green” theme by an ensemble of students and teachers from the Senzoku Gakuen College of Music, Japan.  Selections included traditional Japanese music, as well as original pieces, chosen by the performers to welcome spring and increase awareness of global warming.  This beautiful performance took place on Sunday, March 1.

Because of Harvard University’s Arts First celebration, there is no First Sunday performance in May.  Future performances are scheduled on June 7, July 5 and August 2.  For more information, please contact Janet Sartor at janet_sartor@harvard.edu, or visit the Museum web site at http://www.artmuseums.harvard.edu/events.
